Lykantropia na prelome tisícročí

Názvom lykantropia označujeme bludné presvedčenie o premene indi­vídua na vlka (z gréckych slov lykos – vlk a antropos – človek) alebo iné zviera, resp. správaniu zvieraťa podobné správanie, ktoré z takéhoto presvedčenia vyplýva. Prísne vzaté sa termín lykantropia vzťahuje len na premenu človeka na vlka, zatiaľ čo premenu človeka na zviera vše­obecne označuje výraz theriantropia, termín lykantropia sa však v súčasnosti zvykne používať aj v širšom ponímaní. Syndróm znepokojuje lekárov i kňazov od staroveku po súčasnosť.
